“As an avid reader, I've learned that some of the best gems come in small packages. The Shadow Chaser is a really refreshing change from the stock plots/characters so prevalent in fantasy fiction today. Without giving too much of the story away, I found myself fascinated by the author's use of the shapeshifter convention - a convention that's pretty common in fantasy. He seems to have a great grasp of or connection with the animals used in the book - each one is rendered in the most vibrant terms, and the attention to the details of the behavioral traits of each animal being realized within the human shapeshifter makes you wish you could become a shifter yourself (my favorite is the tiger!) The vivid and detailed quality of the writing ensures that the reader becomes completely entranced in the story and in some of the most interesting characters I've experienced in quite a while. All of the elements of great fantasy fiction are here & I highly recommend planning on reading this book in one go (at least the first time) as you'll find yourself totally immersed in Darien's world and you'll wind up somewhat reluctant to put it down when you've finished. I hope that there's more where this came from!”
